Dr. Zakir Hussain Zakir is a renowned academic and cultural preservation expert committed to higher education, heritage conservation, and sustainable development in Gilgit-Baltistan. He serves as the Director of Planning & Development and External Linkages and He has been the Founding member of the Department of Archaeology & Heritage Studies at the University of Baltistan, Skardu.
With over two decades of leadership experience, he has held key roles in academics, external linkages, and policy development. Holding a Ph.D. in Education from Aga Khan University, he specializes in curriculum development, glacier grafting, and environmental conservation, collaborating with UNDP and Boston Architectural College.
His work on heritage conservation and climate change mitigation has been featured in NPR (USA), The Third Pole, and BBC Urdu. A prolific writer and public speaker, he actively contributes to educational policies, cultural identity, and Sufism.
